Welcome to worthy walk. A blog designed to help us:

live a life worthy of the Lord… (Colossians 1:10 NIV).

This is a great challenge in a fallen world yet made possible through the Spirit of God who lives in us and the word of God which guides us. To walk in a worthy manner we must yield to both. Some say the Spirit led them but do not regard the Scriptures or interpret them any old way ignoring the clear and looking for the spiritual hidden meaning.

We have witnessed that in recent days. Weekly I pass a billboard that declares Jesus is coming back on May 21, 2011. Of course you and I didn’t witness that. No matter those who posted the sign have shifted to spiritualization.  The return was spiritual not physical and so was the judgment that was declared to follow.

What is wrong here? Simply some have decided to disregard the clear teaching of scripture and with mathematical formula come up with a date Jesus told us we could not know.   Scripture is clear:

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Matthew 24:36 NIV)

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Matthew 24:36 NIV)

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. (Matthew 25:13 NIV)

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (Mark 13:32 NIV)

I could share some of the drawn out arguments given to us that we can know but the word of God clearly says we can’t. None the less some will persist in setting dates and even though clearly proven wrong will not admit it but rather choose to spiritualize the Scriptures. Someone has said when you “spiritualize” you tell spiritual lies.

We could simply forget the matter but many of these same people are insisting that the world will end on October 21,2011.  If that is so, this Blog will be short lived. However I believe the scriptures that no man knows and Christ could return anytime but I do not think He will respond to those who continually reject His clear statements.

I asked one person who thought that Jesus was returning on May 21, 2001 would he admit he was wrong if Christ did not return. He insisted he could not be wrong because the scriptures prove it. So I asked a hypothetical question. Let’s just say Jesus didn’t return and you are still here on May 21st, would you then admit you were wrong. He said hypothetically yes. Well we are long past that date and I have heard nothing. I suppose it is because Jesus “Spiritually” returned and the issue of wrong can’t be entertained.

The “spiritual” return of Christ is hard to disprove. You can’t argue the invisible. But the end of the world as predicted for October 21st is not. Either the world is destroyed and my blogging days are over or someone is wrong. No hypothetical interpretation will work. I waited out May 21st and soon October 21st will be here.  I have gone on record saying it is not for us to go beyond scripture. Listen to the word of God:

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation.  (2 Peter 1:20 NIV)

For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.  (2 Peter 1:21 NIV)

The question is what will date setters do on October 22, 2011. When my GPS tells me to go one direction and I choose to go another I hear the word “recalculating” I suspect a lot of recalculating will take place at that time. What ought to take place is repenting for disbelieving God’s word and presenting these teachings as Biblical.

The problem is of course, that many have been led astray and some have a ship wrecked faith because they have believed these predications. That is sad. The larger problem is that those who so twist God’s word do so with no remorse and even a sense of pride. We are right, the Bible proves it and you are wrong is what is being said to those who say “not so’.

Well let it go on record. I have no way of knowing when Christ is returning, but am sure he is. With that in mind I live in readiness so His coming to me will be no surprise. As the old hymn says, “Maybe morning and maybe noon, maybe be evening and may be soon Jesus is coming again.” However I will not join the long line of date setters who go to the grave with unfilled predications. I suspect that the leader of this movement may well be another example.

On friday the new talk/cooking show Chew aired a special question. If the world is going to end on October 22, 2011 what will your last supper be on the 21st?
It is very sad that these so called Bible teachers are teaching people a lie. No one knows when Christ is coming back. Teaching these lies are causing people to make a joke out of Chritianty. The devil is alive and well using anything or anybody to keep others from the one and only Savoir Jesus Christ and the only one who can truly predict anything.
